Economic Development Officer

  • Salary: $107,874 - $114,425 per annum
  • Plus up to 15% superannuation (conditions apply)

The City of Joondalup’s Economic Development activities play a key role in transitioning Joondalup from an economy supported by population growth to one driven by business investment, innovation and entrepreneurship. 

We are seeking an Economic Development Officer to help deliver the City’s economic development strategies and projects. This role involves working with stakeholders across industry and government, providing business support, and creating opportunities that strengthen the local business environment.

Reporting to the Coordinator Economic Development and working within the Economic Development and Advocacy Team, you will apply your knowledge of economic development principles and experience in implementing strategies that foster business growth. You will lead initiatives that support the local economy, collaborate with businesses, and deliver programs that build capacity and resilience. 

Knowledge of strategic sectors such as the visitor economy, knowledge economy, and health and medical industries will be highly regarded. Experience in place activation, local government, and innovation ecosystem development is advantageous.

Strong partnership-building skills with government, industry, and community stakeholders are essential, along with project management and stakeholder engagement expertise. The ability to communicate effectively, manage complex projects, and deliver measurable outcomes aligned with the City’s Economic Development Strategy is critical.

Applicants need to provide a covering letter (maximum two pages) addressing the following criteria: 

  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline such as Economics, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Marketing or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in managing competing stakeholder expectations and maintaining strategic relationships.
  • Proficiency in both verbal and written communication, and record of effective report writing.
  • Experience in the development, administration and management of projects.

Successful applicants must hold a Current West Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.
