Senior Urban Planner (Statutory)

  • Salary: $107,874 – $124,012 per annum
  • Plus up to 15% superannuation (conditions apply)

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Urban Planner to join the City of Joondalup Planning Approvals team.

The Senior Urban Planner plays an integral role within the team, with responsibility for processing a range of complex planning proposals, determination of development applications under delegated authority, and preparing reports for a range of stakeholders including Council, Joondalup Design Review Panel and the Development Assessment Panel. This position prepares technical correspondence and reports, provides complex planning advice to internal and external customers and day to day support and advice to Urban Planners.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced planner who is passionate about local government planning and achieving great outcomes through collaboration and communication. You will be people focussed and demonstrate positive leadership, thrive in a busy environment and be capable of balancing competing priorities with your flexible and can do attitude.

  • Thorough understanding of the Western Australian Planning system and its application in a local government context.
  • Substantial experience processing a range of complex planning proposals from beginning to end.
  • Ability to produce high quality reports and correspondence for a range of stakeholders on complex and technical planning issues.
  • High level of negotiation, decision making, analytical and research skills.

The successful candidate should also hold a tertiary qualification appropriate to Urban and Regional Planning, or a closely related discipline.
