Internal Communications Officer

  • Salary: $107,874 to $114,425 per annum.
  • Plus up to 15% superannuation (conditions apply)
  • Full time 38 hours per week

About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for an Internal Communications Officer to support the City’s Communications and Stakeholder Relations team.

This role is responsible for delivering a wide range of internal communications activities that support organisational engagement, strengthen internal communication channels, and enhance the City’s internal brand and culture.

The position also provides strategic communication support to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and key business units across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing high-quality internal communication materials, including CEO updates, executive messages, speeches, talking points, newsletters and digital content.
  • Managing and maintaining internal communication channels such as the intranet, digital screens, e-newsletters and internal messaging platforms.
  • Developing and delivering internal communication strategies, campaigns and project-related comunication plans.
  • Creating engaging written and digital content and coordinating its publication across internal platforms.
  • Supporting crisis and emergency communications as part of the Crisis Management Team.
  • Working with business units to ensure internal information is accurate, accessible and aligned with City priorities.
  • Monitoring feedback and digital analytics to identify trends and improve internal communication effectiveness.
  • Providing customer service and administrative support for internal communication activities.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in internal or corporate communications, including examples of work that demonstrate capability.
  • Experience preparing written materials such as internal newsletters, speeches, talking points, digital content and organisational updates.
  • Experience developing or managing internal communication channels (e.g. intranet, e-newsletters, digital screens or online forums).
  • Key achievements that demonstrate your impact on communication, engagement or organisational understanding.

Appointment is subject to the provision of a valid WA C Class Driver’s Licence.
