Youth Development Officer – Fixed Term

  • Salary: $90,507 - $96,119 per annum
  • Plus up to 15% superannuation (conditions apply)
  • Fixed Term Full Time 12-month contract

This position sits within the Youth Services team and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of youth initiatives in the City of Joondalup. The successful candidate will engage with young people and key community stakeholders to design and deliver programs and events that support and encourage youth participation in the community.

The Youth Development Officer plays a pivotal role in fostering inclusive, supportive, and engaging environments that provide young people with meaningful opportunities for social connection, community participation and personal development. This role is responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating a range of programs, activities, and events for young people aged 11 to 25 across multiple settings including youth centre, school engagements, and community activations.

Please note: Applicants will need to be available to work a range of hours including afternoon, evening and occasional weekends.

To be considered for this position, applicants are required to submit a covering letter (maximum two pages) addressing their experience in the following criteria:

  • Ability to promote and model positive work practices that support the safety and wellbeing of children.
  • Experience in working with young people from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Interpersonal and collaboration skills to build mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in effective planning and delivery of youth development projects and services.
  • Tertiary qualification or progression towards a qualification in Youth Work / Community Services / Community Development or similar discipline and / or demonstrated relevant experience.
